The motorcycle cowl is fitted with a windscreen (2) supported on two vertical sliders (3) comprising C-profiled strips with the heads of the securing bolts in the profiles. The strips have weakened edges so that the bolts are released when the windscreen is struck with a set force. In a collision the windscreen is released so that the rider is not injured by it. The C-profile strips allow the windscreen to be height adjusted as the conditions allow. The shear edges of the strips provide a constant breaking force over a wide temp. range, and with little ageing effect.
