<p>A small portable device which can be used for simple timing typically for telephone conversations, simple weighing, typically of letters and parcels, and which contains a flexible steel measuring tape, is presented. The device is in a small flat box of convenient size, and made of plastic. A small outer plastic casing has three sections, one containing a flexible steel measure, another a sand timer and the third a spring hook from which small objects can be hung to be weighed. When this is done, the device must be held over the edge of a table, when the object concerned causes two sections of the device to separate in a hinged manner from the other under the control of a spring which gives an indication of the weight of a suitable scale.</p> |
