<p>The system produces bores with high-quality in workpieces, being particularly for the bores of an engine cylinder block. One or more boring operations are followed by one or more precision surface machining operations using a rotary tool reciprocating in the bore. Two or more workpieces (1, 2) are clamped together, facing opposite ways, with their bores in line, the bores in each pair being machined as if constituted a single one. With cylinder blocks, the cylinder head faces can be clamped together, and a hone (9) can be used for the precision operation.</p> |
