Motor vehicle inspection pit - has rope actuated lifting and lowering platform with pit cover plate

The motot vehicle is lowered into the pit on a platform and the pit is closed with a lid after the platform is fully lowered. The and platform are connected to form a parallel pair of plates. The platform and lid are covered by vertical columns associated with four lifting and lowering ropes. The platform drives is compact. The ropes (7) are held on the longitudinal enclosing walls adjacent to the vertical columns (5). Other ends of ropes are connected to the rope drum driven on the underside of plates by motor. The ropes are held on pit walls by pulleys whose plane is at an angle to the wall plane.
