<p>Prepn. of a guanidine deriv. of formula (I) comprises reacting 4-chloromthyl-5-methyl imidazole (II) with 1-cyano-2-methyl-3-((2-thiol)ethyl)guanidine (III) in an alkaline medium, in the form of the thiol salt. Cpd. (III) is new cpd. (I) inhibits the formation of gastric ulcers. In an example 0.5 mole (II), 4 pts. wt. DMF and 1 mole sodium methoxide, was stirred 5 mins and 0.5 mole (III) added. It was then heated at 70 degrees C for 3 hrs. DMF removed at reduced pressure and H2O added. pH was adjusted to 8.8 and prod. filtered. The solid produced had m. pt. 140-142 degrees C.</p> |
