Composite sheet for railway anti-vibration pads - comprising perforated metal or fibre-reinforced plate laminated with sheet rubber

Anti-vibration pads for railway line supports etc. comprise a laminate of a solid rubber sheet and a (thin) stiff plate which is perforated. The perforations are round, square or star-shaped, and the number size and position of the perforations is used to vary the elastic constant of the pad and different regions thereof. The composite pads of varying and variable elastic constant provide wider sound and vibration attention than plain, solid pads. The stiff plate can be sufficiently thin for composite pads to be substituted for existing solid railway pads.
