Forming electrostatic images in electrophotography comprises (a) forming a first charge on a translucent insulated layer of a photosensitive plate where the translucent insulator is placed on a photoconductive layer, (b) exposing an original image and (c) simultaneously forming an alternating current corona discharge on the primary charged translucent insulated layer to obtain an electrostatic image of the original image corresponding with the surface potential difference, the image having the light-and-dark patterns of the original. The method gives electrostatic images of high sensitivity and contrast, and can be used for a large number of times for a considerable period. The image is readily transferred onto a copying material, and then fixed in this material.
|
