Ice making machine automatic control system - uses photoelectric cell operated by ball valve to control discharge of ice blocks

An ice making machine has horizontal tube(8) through which water is pumped and allowed to trickle through a set of distributors (7) suspended from it and around the inside of a corresponding set of tubes (2) inside which the ice blocks form. These tubes also pass through another tube (1) parallel to the water tube which conveys refrigerant around the ice forming tubes (2). The ice forming tube at one end of the line is positioned over a small vessel (12) with a float (13) located opposite a photo-electric cell (14). When a block of ice has formed no formed no water passes through the ice tube and the level inside the vessel falls and the cell is operated is cut off the refrigerant. Thus the ice begins to melt and the blocks fall out onto a screen (20) below to fall into a container.
