<p>A boiler in a distn. arrangement for the treatment of radioactive liquids, has a relatively large internal, vertical projection from its bottom, forming an external cavity which is filled with neutron absorbent and moderating material. The absorbent material is provided in the form of a cadmium foil, 1 mm thick forming a cladding on the cavity wall, whilst the moderator is paraffin wax or wood. System minimises the risks of contamination and the necessity of cleaning mechanical agitators, etc.</p> |
