<p>Copolyesters are prepd. by treating 4,4-dicarboxy p-terphenyl and is not 1 aromatic or cyclic diacid or their esters of alcohols (1-6C) with is not 1 (cyclo)aliphatic diol. Pref. diacids are naphthalene-2,6 or 2,7-diCOOH, tere- and iso-phthalic acid, cis- and trans-cyclohexane diCOOH, p,p'-dicarboxy-1,2-diphenoxyethane and p,p'-dicarboxy-1,4-diPh-butane. Diacids can be substd. with halogen or Me and =10% can be replaced by aliphatic diCOOH. Pref. diesters are Me, Et and Pr. Pref. diols are C2H6O2, butane-1,4-diol, hexane-1,6-diol and cyclohexane diMeOH. Copolyesters have inherent viscosity of >=0.3, measured as a 0.5% soln. in o-Cl-phenol and 25 degrees C and have a mesophoric transition pt. >=150 degrees C.</p> |
