PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain high discharge capacity even when an alkali storage battery using a nickel electrode as a positive electrode is charged under a high temperature environment by improving the nickel electrode for alkali storage battery obtained by filling pores of a porous sintered carrier with an active material mainly composed of nickel hydroxide. SOLUTION: In this alkali storage battery comprising the positive electrode 1, a negative electrode 2 and the alkali electrolyte, and using the active material prepared by attaching niobic acid to particle surfaces of nickel hydroxide in the nickel electrode of the alkali storage battery prepared by filling the active material in the pores of the porous sintered carrier, the nickel electrode is used in the positive electrode.
