PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a combustion parameter for judging whether or not the pattern of a heat releasing rate is in a single stage combustion (whether or not a low temperature premixed combustion is maintained) without performing the calculation of the heat releasing rate or pattern recognition. SOLUTION: The combustion state detection apparatus for a diesel engine is provided with a means 61 for detecting a cylinder internal pressure P, a means 62 for detecting the crank angle θ of the engine, a means 63 for calculating a two times differentiated value for the cylinder internal pressure, d2P/dθ2 based on both internal pressure P and angle θ, a means 64 for calculating a crank angle zone ▵θ in which the above differentiated value d2P/dθ2 exceeds a prescribed value, and a means 65 for estimating a premixed combustion rate during combustion based on the crank angle zone ▵θ. |
