<p>A matrix screen with mixed liq. crystals of nematic and cholesteric types with dynamic diffusion from abient temp. with a memory effect, includes mixed crystals enclosed between two parallel transparent plates sepd. by two thin wedges. The plates are coated on the inside with two gratings of thin semi-transparent electrodes. The gratings on each plate are parallel and those of each plate cross those of the other. The two plates are coated on the inside with thin layers of substances which bring the closest liq. crystal molecules of the plates to orientate themselves perpendicularly to them. The screen is used to record information. The results in an image formation time of at most 10 millisecs/line compared with about 100-120 millisecs/line for previous screens.</p> |
