To improve the retention of a lolly, the stick is provided with lateral notch(es) and/or projection(s) in at least that part of its length. In preferred realisations in which, after the lolly is gone, the stick remains to form, with other similar sticks, a constructional toy, the notches and projections are rectangular or cubic, in a pattern that allows the sticks to be fitted together in various ways. There may be slots cut through the stick, into which a second stick can be pushed, and notches and/or projections at the ends of the stick.
