The buckle consists of a slotted plate, through which a loop of the belt is passed, and a loose bar which is slipped through the loop, and jams the belt in the buckle when sufficient tension is exerted on it. When the tension is released, the belt is liable to slip in the buckle, losing its desired adjustment. To avoid this a leaf spring is fixed to the buckle plate, and so to press the belt against the buckle bar and keep it from slipping accidentally- a deliberate adjustment of its length can be made as before. The leaf spring is pref. of plastic, partic. of acetal resin.
|
