The cap of a sparkling wine bottle is removed during the fermentation process in order to discharge the sediment collected in the neck. The bottle neck is supported in the semi-circular opening (12) of a block (11) which is clamped to a support. This opening has an upturned lip (13) which fits the annular recess (14) around the bottle neck. A bevel edge (7) forms part of a handle, pivoting in bearings each side of the semi-circular opening. This bevel edge is engaged under the turned-over rim (15) of the cap (16) and, when pivoted, pulls up the rim and releases the cap.
|
