The parachutist's harness consists of a network of crossed straps secured to a pair of parachute ties. A buckle is attached to the harness, and a pair of crossed straps are linked to the parachute ties by a sliding looped bar which can slide along the ties to the same level as the buckle. The parachute release mechanism simultaneously disengages both the buckle and the parachute ties. The locking mechanism consists of a lever pivoting in a plane parallel to its mounting plate, with a latch hinging perpendicular to this, to retain the lever in the locked position.
