<p>Stand, esp. for laboratory equipment such as rotary evaporators, has a vertical support column rigidly fixed to a base and enclosed by a tube section which carries the appts., and which can be moved w.r.t. the support column and fixed in the required position. A pneumatic cylinder is compressed between the support column and the tube section and is capable of raising the tube section to the extended position and holding it there. The arrangement requires less space than a counterweight system and avoids the problem of jamming associated with failure in a spring-loaded system.</p> |
