Mixed texturised silk of polyamide and polyester - plied heated and twisted to give soft wool-like thread

Prodn. of a mixed texture silk consisting of a number of elementary fibres of two differing components comprises feeding a multi-capillary polyamide silk and a multi-capillary polyester silk in the plied state, to a false twisting device. The silks are then texturised together by a common twisting device at a texturising temp. below that normally used for polyester silk. For a mixt. of polyamide-6 silk and polyester silk the pref. texturising temp. is 180 degrees C. Used for the prodn. of a soft composite material having the feel of wool. The method is simpler than previously known methods.
