Sphygmomanometer using the Riva-Rocci/Korotkoff method comprises an inflatable cuff contg. a microphone to which is connected a control device (4) for alternately locking the two needles of a manometer (19) at the beginning and end of the Korotkoff sounds. The control device consists of an analyser circuit (3) to which are connected two control circuits (5, 6) for systolic and diastolic pressures, each controlling an electromagnet (18, 20) which releases its needle when energised. An electronic store (25) is controlled by a two-way switch (32), of which the two positions allow cuff inflation and automatic blood pressure measurement, and by a switch device (23) which emits a given potential a short while after the end of the Korotkoff sounds. In both switch positions, a battery-fed current supply circuit (27) is switched on, and switched off by the above potential.
