Ice prevention heating elements for aircraft surfaces - uses shaped carbon fibre mats which can be fitted exactly to wing edges or helicopter blades

<p>The method of constructing specialized heating elements is for use on aircraft wing surfaces and helicopter blades to prevent icing using a carbon fibre mat construction with shape suited to the surface concerned. The elements are much cheaper and easier to fit than the traditional metal heating elements. The heating elements (2) consists simply of a woven carbon fibre mat shaped to fit to the aircraft surface (1). Terminals to carry power to the heaters may be of galvanised or laminated metal filled resin construction.</p>
