It is an object of the present invention to generate a demodulated signal, in response to a phase correction control signal representing an undesirable phase offset of a pilot signal transmitted with a main data signal and locally generated to a pilot carrier component of a received signal. The phase offset of a demodulated signal caused by the phase offset of a pilot signal used for recovering a carrier is eliminated before the demodulated signal is equalized. A carrier recovery circuit uses two rotation devices (multipliers), in response to received and demodulated I and Q signals. One rotation device relates to a phase control loop responding to the pilot component. The other rotation device responds to a composite signal, that is produced by compositing a signal obtained from the phase control loop and the offset signal denoting a calculation value of an undesirable phase distortion (e.g., multi-path 'ghost' distortion). |
