Naphtho-isothiazole - for use as an agricultural nematocide

Naphth 2,1-d isothiazole, of formula (I), is a new cpd: Cpds. (I) is active against a wide range of plant-parasitic nematodes, including root knot eelworms, cyst eelworms, stem and leaf eelworms and soil nematodes, and is practically non-phytotoxic. In an example, (I) was prepd. by reacting 1-chloro-2-formylnaphthalene with S and NH3.
