The braking device is for a rotatable spring-loaded rod or tubular bar fitted for attachment of flexible sheeting or textile for a roller blind, where damage could be caused by accelerated rolling. The bar rotates about a spindle (16) protruding from its end, which can be fixed to a firmly attached holder. A sleeve socket (14), for attachment to the bar (10) end, contains movable weight segments (27), sited to promote friction-action restriction of the bar's speed of rotation, effecting pressure against non-rotatable locking elements on the spindle, under centrifugal force. Excessively rapid rotation after sudden draw release is prevented.
