The system for differentiating between genuine and false bank-notes or similar documents includes transport for a repeat checking and it reduces the period required for the second test. The segregation is carried out by inserting the note through inlet (11) for conveying on the surface of cylinder (12) driven by motor (15). During the motion of the note, its size, imprint or magnetic image are sensed by detector (16). If the note passes as a genuine one, it is forwarded to outlet (17) for collection in box (18). The rollers (142-144) are set outside cylinder (12) to ensure that the endless belt (13) covers a greater part of the cylinder, and one of the rollers is driven to impart motion to the belt. Bank-note insertion detectors (20) and guide blocks (21, 22) at the inlet and outlet control the note motion. The signals from detector (16) control the shift of the guide blocks for allowing the inlet or outlet of the banknotes.
