1490590 Separating oil from gas DIOSGYORI GEPGYAR 23 May 1975 [24 May 1974] 22548/75 Heading B1T An apparatus for separating oil from gas (e.g. hot coolant vapours from a compressor) comprises casing 1 having an inlet 3 and outlet 15 and containing silencing means 4, 5 superimposed baffles 7, 8, 9 and filter or coalescer insert 14. In use the oil/gas mixture is passed from inlet 3 through the silencing means 4, 5. Oil is then' separated as the gas flows downwardly and sinuously through the baffles 7, 8. 9. The downward flow of gas is reversed by baffle 17 and oil is separated as the gas flows upwardly through insert 14 containing, e.g. Raschig rings. The separated oil drains to the bottom of casing I from which it is discharged via float valve 18. There is heat exchange between the separated oil at the bottom of the casing and the gas flowing out of the pipe 15.
