The jaws are shaped so that at least three jaws are in contact with the workpiece 7 at a time. The flywheel 11 is driven from a pulley 13. The workpiece may have its outer surface swaged smooth or with teeth or may be hollow with a mandrel to shape the inner surface. The jaws may be separate, Fig. 3 (not shown), and slide in a carrier (18) or be integral with each other and connected at one or both sides axially of the apparatus, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown).
