They are prepared by reacting a compound of the formula: as such in the presence of an acid acceptor or in the form of an alkali metal-, alkaline earth metal- or ammonium salt thereof, with a halide: The products have arthropodicidal and nematicidal properties and may be used as active ingredients in conventional pesticidal compositions. The compound: is obtained by adding bromine dropwise at room temperature to a solution of 4-chloromethylsulphonylphenol, then stirring for a further hour at 45‹ C. and pouring the mixture, after cooling, into ice-water to precipitate the product. |
