TAPE RECORDING AND/OR REPRODUCING APPARATUS

1416629 Cassette recorder SONY CORP 12 June 1973 [17 June 1972] 27925/73 Heading G5R In a magnetic tape cassette recorder in which record/playback head 22 and erase head 23 are mounted on a head plate 21 which is slidable on chassis 14 to a transducing position in which the heads engage tape in a cassette 16 in its operative position, the cassette is ejected by slide member 43 which when actuated by control 13 is retained in its actuated position in which a locking member 54 prevents movement of the head plate to its transducing position. Locking member 54 is pivotally mounted on the chassis by screw 49 which forms with slot 47 one of the guides for eject slide member 43. The locking member is formed with a pin 56 which engages slot 57 in the slide member whereby part 58 of the locking member is moved from its full line position 58, Fig. 6, where it prevents movement of the slide member from its upper position when the head plate 21 is in its transducing position 211 to its broken line position 581 in which it prevents movement of the head plate to its transducing position when the eject slide member is retained in its lowered actuated position. During the lowering movement of the eject slide member, latch 42 disengages from keeper 44 on the cassette holder 5 so that this and the cassette are moved by springs 38 to their non-operative position and tab 65 on the slide member engages lug 83 on slide 68 to move a feeler member 72, which detects presence or absence of a record tab on the cassette, out of engagement with the cassette. Member 59 is pivoted to the chassis by screw 50 which with slot 48 forms a second guide for eject slide member 43, the member co-operates with tab 65 to retain the slide member in its actuated position. An extension 67 on the member is engaged by a cassette or cassette holder 5 when retained to their operative position to release the slide member and restore the apparatus to its operative position. Slide member 68 for detecting the presence of a recording tab on a cassette is mounted for sliding movement on the chassis and includes a slot 75 which if a record tab is present is moved to a position which allows rod 76, Fig. 6, freedom to move to the right thereby allowing record button 8 to be operated for recording on the cassette tape.
