<p>1381125 Automatic control of position XYNETICS Inc 26 June 1972 [28 June 1971 ] 29868/72 Heading G3N [Also in Division H2] In a servo-control system for positioning a head 11 (see Division H2) which is movable over a platen 15, Fig.1 (not shown), phase displaced output signals from a position pick-off 36 in the head are combined with position command signals to produce an error signal which is combined with the pick-off output signals to produce phase displaced signals for energizing an actuator 20a, 20b in the head. The circuit shown is for movement of the head along a single axis. As shown, the error signal is combined in multipliers 84, 85 with the demodulated outputs of the pickoff, the multiplier outputs then being fed through driver amplifiers 90, 91 to the coils of the actuator. The demodulated pick-off outputs may be stored in digital form (in digitizer 99) for future use. The circuit of Fig.5 (not shown) forms part of an x-y plotter, separate circuits similar to that of Fig.4 being included for controlling movement of the head along the two axes. The Fig.5 (not shown) circuit also includes further components, associated with the x-axis pick-off and actuator coils, for preventing rotation of the head about an axis perpendicular to the platen surface.</p> |
