NOSE CAP FOR STRAND OF PRESTRESS CABLE

The cables used in pre-stressed concrete are built up from a number of strands and the strands are in turn composed of a number of high tensile steel wires. In order to protect the steel from attack by the concrete the cable is enclosed in a sheath. The cable is assembled by threading each strand through the protective sheath. When up to 19 strands are required,: the end fitting (5) simplifies the operation. The strand (2) is fitted into the socket (7) which is provided with a chamfer (4) and strengthened with a collar (8). The other end (6) of the fitting (5) is hemi-spherical with a diameter equal to that of the collar (8).
