The lens carrier is used for temporary fastening on a lens. This holds the lens in a certain position in a machine for lens edge grinding or for carrying out other operations on the lens. The lens carrier is readily deformed so that it is held on a driving arrangement. The carrier is readily removed from the lens after completion of the work. The holder has central opening for viewing the lens (30) after grinding. Openings (3) are provided for connection with the corresponding components (25) of the machine for holding the lens (30) in a specified position relative to this element (25). The openings (3) are made on the inner edge of the lens carrier rings. The lens carrier has two layers (1, 2) of which one (2) is more readily deformed than the other one (1).
