A lawnmower which also finely chops the cut grass comprises a cutter blade (1) provided with oblique vanes (3) creating rotational and upward movement of air at the periphery of the space (4). A fan (5) produces suction in the space (8) and chops the cut grass by means of its blades (6). The chopping blades (6) are horizontal or oblique while the suction vanes (7) are vertical or oblique. An inner wall (10) extends part way round the central axis and then extends as a curve to the outer wall, and is fixed to a bottom plate (11). The fan (5) is separated from the spaces (4, 8) by a partition (16), and is enclosed by a casing (17) having an exit slot (18) for the finely chopped grass.
