<p>Sample materials are subjected to the effects of cavitation erosion caused by liquid flow by placing a sample in a liquid flow which has a rotational movement. A rapidly closed valve causes an implosion of a central cavity created by the rotating liquid to produce the eroding effects. A sample (4) is located in one end (2) of a cylindrical chamber (1). A flattened rectangular pipe (5) enables a tangential liquid flow (F) to be established with a central saturated vapour cavity (10). Rapid closing of a valve (9) by releasing a spring (12) loaded catch (11) causes implosion of the central cavity causing cavitation erosion of the sample.</p> |
