Composite mouldings made by trapping closed cellular particles between two or more layers of porous textiles impregnated with a thermosetting resin. The mould is vibrated to maintain the distribution of the particles throughout the enclosed resin matrix until the particle positions are fixed by setting of the resin. Used for making low density mouldings by compression moulding or casting, for mfr. of construction panels for buildings, vehicles, etc. requiring thermal or acoustic insulation.
