An installation for heating water by means of solar energy carrier comprises a water tank, a solar collector and a further energy source, all connected together by a piping system. The temp. of the flow line from the solar collector to the water-tank and the temp. of the water requiring heating are both measured. If the flow line temp. is equal to or lower than that of the water requiring heating, the circulation from the solar collector to the tank is cut off, and, if further heat demand occurs, the other heat source is switched on by means of a controller. The temp. of the water to be heated is pref. obtd. indirectly by measuring the return line to the collector. The flow line and return line sensors are close to each other and operate the controller to change over a three-port valve which interconnects the flow line from the solar collector, the flow line from the conventional heat source, esp. a boiler, and the tank. The automatic control of the change over from solar heating to conventional heating using fossil fuel or the like results in max. economic use and storage of solar heating, so that the heat supplied from the boiler is kept to a min.
|
