<p>The rear wheels (9) are supported at the ends of trailing arms (3, 4) pivoted on bearings (1, 2) at the ends of short stub arms on a transverse shaft (7). The shaft is rotated by a servo control (8) to alter the height of the bearings with vehicle speed, to adapt the ride to the type of road. For fast speeds, without many corners, the amount of oversteer is increased by having a low bearing setting. For slower speeds, with corners etc. the height of the bearings is increased to alter the roll characteristics.</p> |
