The structure has floating and submerged stability as the tubes form compartments ballast tanks and uppermost horizontal peripheral tubes 13, which are of larger diameter than the other tubes, constitute a protective fender. Some of the vertical tubes form pile sleeves 32 for installing piles to anchor the structure to the sea floor and for releasing the structure from the sea floor.</p> |
