1495478 Polycarbonate compositions UNIBRA SA 6 Nov 1975 [14 Nov 1974] 46084/75 Heading C3R A crystallizable composition comprises a polycarbonate (C), a compatible plasticizer (P), and a finely-divided nucleating agent (N) being a salt of a metal (M) and an at least tetracarboxylic acid (A). (A) may be a polymer having lateral COOH groups, e.g. a copolymer of ethene, propene, or styrene and (meth)- acrylic acid. (M) may be, e.g. Li, Na, K, Ca, or Mg. (N) may be of size, e.g. 0À1-10 Ám. (P) may be an ester or benzene mono-, di-, or tricarboxylic acid or of a polyhydroxy alcohol; it may be an ester of an alcohol not comprising a #-hydrogen atom. (C) may be a bisphenol polycarbonate. By wt. based on the composition there may be 2À5-20% (P) and 0À01-20% (N). The composition may be shaped and heated at above its vitreous transition temperature, and may then be annealed at 140-200‹ C. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 1,439,964 and 1,426,524.
