<p>1439899 Corrosion inhibition WESTVACO CORP 13 March 1974 [15 March 1973] 11080/74 Heading C7E [Also in Division C5] Corrosion of metals in contact with petroleum hydrocarbon fuels is inhibited by adding to said fuels 1-200 p.p.m. of where x, y, = 3-9 and x + y = 12, one Z is H and the other is -COOH; the hydrogenated dicarboxylic acid; a bis- or mono-alkanolamide derivative of said acid or a monoalkanolamide derivative of a soap of said acid. The above acid may have added to it up to 80 wt per cent of fatty acid, e.g. oleic acid, coconut fatty acid, soya fatty acid, or tall oil fatty acid; corrosion of ferrous I.C. engines and storage tanks is inhibited.</p> |
