Dust is prevented from escaping from a bunker. A ring shaped space inside the top wall is enclosed except at the bottom. Air is sucked from this space and passed through a duct collector. The air is sepd. into two portions, one heavily and the other lightly contaminated with dust. Only the heavily contaminated portion is passed through a dust collector. The other stream is return to the bunker near its opening. The filtration of only the heavily contaminated air reduces the capacity needed by the vacuum source. The capacity of the filter can also be reduced. The dust is formed when solid material is dropped into the bunker.
