High tension condenser, partic multiple unit high tension condensers for use in potential multipliers for the prodn. of high voltages for television tubes e.g. 25 kV for colour television tubes, have the dielectric layer formed from polystyrene and polyester films, esp. two polystyrene films and an intermediate polyester film. Provides a plastic film dielectric condenser stable to high tension but capable of being hermetically encapsulated at relatively low cost. The multiple condenser has a considerably smaller volume and is easier and cheaper to fabricate than known equipment but without loss of dielectric strength. Coating films of aluminium foil, thickness 1-6mu are used with polyester films, thickness 20-30mu, placed between pairs of polystyrene films, thickness 3-40mu. The polystyrene films are made wider than the polyester film and successive coating films project with respect to each other. |
