<p>1476456 Flame retardant ethylene-vinylacetate copolymer/silicone elastomer compositions GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 29 July 1974 [22 Aug 1973] 33387/74 Headings C3P and C3T Compositions curable to a thermoset state to provide flame retardant insulation on electrical conductors comprise (1) 100 parts by weight of ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, (2) 25 to 150 parts by weight of hydrated alumina, (3) 2 to 25 parts by weight of silicone elastomer and (4) 2 to 10 parts by weight of a tertiary organic peroxide curing agent. The elastomer may be polydimethyl siloxane or polymethyl phenylsiloxane The peroxide may be dicumyl peroxide, 2,5- dimethyl - 2,5 - di - t. butylperoxy - hexane or hexyne - 3 or a, a - bis (t. butylperoxy) diisopropylbenzene. The compositions may also contain antioxidants, e.g. polymerized 1,2 - dihydro - 2,2,4 - trimethylquinoline, lubricants, e.g. calcium stearate, and vinyl silane coupling agents; and may be extruded on to copper wires.</p> |
