<p>1415550 Unsaturated polyester/thermoplastic polymer moulding compositions BAYER AG 28 Dec 1973 [2 Nov 1973] 59945/73 Heading C3P A curable moulding composition comprises (a) 24-70 wt. per cent of one or more unsaturated crystalline polyesters containing residues of fumaric acid and glycols corresponding to the formula HO-CH 2 -R-CH 2 -OH in which R is (i) an alkylene group -(CH 2 ) 2 - where Z is 1-18, (ii) a symmetrical derivative of -(CH 2 ) 2 - in which the alkyl groups are on the same carbon atom, or (iii) a cycloalkylene group; (b) 20-75 wt. per cent of styrene and (c) 1-30 wt. per cent of a polycarbonate, polyamide, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl alcohol acetal, a vinyl chloride homo- or copolymer or an ethylene homo- or copolymer, alone or in admixture. Preferred glycols are neopentyl glycol, 1,4-dihydroxymethylcyclohexane, and hexane-1,6-diol. Preferred components (c) are: (1) polycarbonates based on bisphenol A or chlorinated, brominated or methyl substituted bisphenol A; (2) polyamides based on 6-aminocaproic acid, 11-aminoundecane carboxylic acid, caprolactam, lauriolactam, hexamethylene diamine, adipic acid or sebacic acid, (3) polyvinyl alcohols which are hydrolyzed polyvinylacetates with a residual acyl group content of 0À1 to 30 wt. per cent, and polyvinyl alcohols acetalized to 80 wt. per cent with formaldehyde or butyraldehyde; (4) PVC and copolymers of vinyl chloride with vinyl acetate, vinylidene chloride or an acrylic or maleic acid ester, and (5) polyethylene and copolymers of ethylene and up to 10 wt. per cent vinylacetate.
