Slurry fed by feed pipe 92 to head box 90 is constrained by side plates 97 to feed rotating filter drum 80. Liquid passes between slots and across the drum to wash through lower portion of drum and rinse off remaining adhering solids. Solids passing over the surface are removed by platform scraper 100. Profile bars (138 Figs. 4 and 5 not shown) are shaped to diverge towards drum axis. The included angle between opposed sides of the bar or bars is preferably between 14 and 90 degrees, for example 26‹.
