A method for the treatment of the blade tip ( 11 ) of a turbine blade is pro-posed in which silicon carbide (SiC) particles ( 3 ) are bound on the surface of the blade tip for the production of an abrasive coating, wherein a self-healing barrier layer is produced on the SiC particles. A turbine blade treated in this way is further proposed.
