<p>The brake particularly intended for heavy road vehicles comprises a band assembly which, at least partially, consists of friction material, and has a circular shape surrounding a rotary brake drum. The ends of the band overlap and interlockingly extend past one another to be connected with components of actuating means. The components are movable away from one another such that the band is tensioned on the drum. The band preferably consists of flexible spring material which is pre-formed to assume a non-braking position when relaxed. Adjustable stops may be provided to limit extension of the relaxed band in relation to the outer diameter of the drum.</p> |
