Organic refuse composting - in vertical silo cells with swivelling air feed tubes and traversing discharge worm conveyor

Organic refuse is turned into compost in a line of vertical cells of a fermentation silo through which it travels in a downward direction. Air is introduced into each column by tubes which can swivel in a joint and follow the movement of the descending material. A worm conveyor runs across the width of the silo and can be moved across its length by an endless rope drive to discharge the fermented compost to belt conveyors on both ends. The silo can be easily enlarged by adding cells to the ends. The whole plant is simple in design and requires no complicated stirring mechanisms.
