<p>Machine for mfr. of connecting sleeves at the ends of plastics pipes which are continuously cut off a tubular extrudate, has a cross-cutter for cutting lengths of pipe off the extrudate; a pipe-widening station, with slidable widening mandrel, for the pipe ends; and, between cutting and widening stations, a conveyor for the cut-off pipes. Upstream of the conveyor, a pipe feed unit is arranged which conveys the cut-off pipes at a speed that is higher than that at which the extrudate is fed to the cross-cutter. The pipe feed unit has >1 driven friction roller over which the cut-off pipes move. The conveyer is in form of a stepped grate with steps across the machine direction. It is movably supported and driven with reciprocating motion so that the pipes are conveyed over the grate. The "stepped grate" has >2 components which are movably supported in planes that are parallel with the machine direction.</p> |
