The apparatus for drying hay or grain, by using the heat from the sun, includes a structure for storing for the hay (1) with a solar panel (3) forming its roof, connected to a water circulating circuit. The hay is supported on a grid (2) with an air circulation space underneath, and below this a hot water storage tank (6). A heat exchanger coil (7) with a fan (10), included in the water circuit passes hot air through the space under the grid to dry the hay. When the sun is not shining, the heat from the tank continues to dry the hay.
